Pandit Ajay Chakraborty, Chandana Chakraborty Live Concert
Udya Bhusan Bhattacharya Memorial organizes a classical vocal concert by Pandit Ajoy Chakrobarty, Chandana Chakraborty and students of Bharat Sangeet Vidyalaya, on March 4, 6 p.m. at 125 Vivekananda Road. Ajay Chakraborty, the once student of Pandit GyanPrakash Ghosh, and Ustad Munabbar Ali Khan, who was the son of the legendary Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, is the uncrowned king of almost all disciplines of North Indian music, and perhaps the most powerful singer of the Patiala gharana of our times. Chandana Chakraborty, his wife, has been a student of music all her life and has been trained by many talented musicians, Pandit GyanPrakash Ghosh being one of them. She is currently training many young talents in ShrutiNandan, a musical school established by Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. Though we do not hear Mrs. Chakraborty very often, she has musically talented and has a very sweet, melodious voice. She also has written a few lyrics in some of Pt. Ajay Chakraborty’s songs.
