Bhitormoholer Byatha

Bhitormoholer Byatha

Tagore’s indissoluble bond with his sister-in-law, Kadambari Devi, spanning over seventeen long years, right from the moment she stepped into the Jorasanko Thakurbari household, when she was only seven, has been immortalized by the bard through his poems, songs and letters. BHITORMOHOLER BYATHA (cosmic harmony) is a collage of songs and excerpts from his memorabilia revolving around his passionate relationship with his dearest Natun Bouthan. Conceptualized by Ratna Mitra, the album is a tribute to Tagore’s philosophy of death, transcendence of worldly woe and agony culminating into the ultimate realization of Tobu-o shanti, tobu anondo, tobu anonto jaage. The nostalgic reminiscence of the fond memories has admirably been captured by Srabani Sen, Sreekanto Acharya and Ratna Mitra. While Ratna and Sreekanto narrate the excerpts from Tagore’s memoirs with a profound sensitivity, Srabani pours her heart out in songs like Amar Praner Porey, Durey Kothao, Amar Bhuban To Aaj and Amar Byatha Jokhon. She captures the jocundity of “Olo Shoi”, the excruciating pain of Jey Raate Mor Duarguli and rejuvinates the connoisseurs with Aamar Hiyar Majhey. Shrrkanto’s voice over gels well with Srabani’s sonorous vocal timbre and she leaves no stone unturned to emote the songs with an impeccable perfection. Sreekanto’s euphonic music arrangementinterfusing esraj and violin aesthetically gives new dimention to the collector’s item.
