Du Kul Bhese Jaay is a recent Rabindra Sangeet Album released on October 21st, 2008 by SAGARIKA. I am not really sure what the album tag line “Maatir Gaan-e Rabindranath“ means in context of the songs chosen. The songs sung by the duo are among the most common Rabindra Sangeet sung by numerous singers. The background music pattern used has also been heard widely. There is nothing special about this album in that sense.

Jayati Chakraborty has a nice melodious voice that shows that she has been a student of music for quite some time. At certain notations, though, she probably needed a bit more perfection.

Swagata tried his best to sing traditionally. However he needs some improvements in pronunciation. He also needs to concentrate on the notations that uses some broken pieces of “taan”.

The good side of the album is the limited volume of background music, compared to many other recent Tagore song albums by newcomers, that did not sound painful to me.
